Animal Taming/Training: Works with generic animals only, common and advanced training techniques. This is what Jane went to school for! She possesses a talent for working with animals but unfortunately bombed her schooling pretty bad. She picks up odd jobs in clinics, shelters, ranches, and farms when she can. She grew up around animals, specifically horses and probably a lot of dogs. Her family roots literally lie in the animal industry and animal sciences.

Occult: Her knowledge of the occult and supernatural creatures is largely first hand experience. Girl saw some shit in Quebec’s nightlife scene, and rolling with a nameless Coven of dark practitioners for a while taught her a thing or two as well. Additionally, Jane comes from a long line of witches that practice as a family coven. When her abilities were discovered she was forced to attend Crossbury coven meetings and training courses. (Her occult knowledge is mostly magic & witch based only).
Herbalism: The girl can cook, but that set aside, she learned some basics and then some in regard to herbalism during Crossbury Coven training and with the Coven while she practiced in Quebec. Her knowledge in herbalism often aids her in alternative forms of first aid and veterinary medicine.
Powers:
Natura Speak - Jane is able to understand plants and animals (this includes supernaturals in animal form), and it is a spell linked to her Healing abilities that developed during her early teens. Certain parts of the power take different levels of energy for her to cast.
- With plantlife her connection is more empathic. She is able to detect the health level of a plant, and what it might need. (1x post for spell).
- She is able to project communicative thoughts to animals as well but this is limited to only one target at a time, and Jane must make direct eye contact in the process. Mundane animals, of course, wouldn’t understand a projected complex thought. The moment a supernatural takes a non-animal form, Jane cannot project to them (and wouldn't need to anyways). During this spell she can also understand what animals have to 'say' to her in turn. (1x post for spell).
- If Jane wants to know what an animal is thinking she must spend more energy and concentrate harder. This is because the creature is not directly attempting to communicate with her. This is also limited to one target at a time, they must be in Jane's line of sight for her to be able to lock on to the individual and begin to cast. This spell is more exhausting for Jane to cast, and will drain quite a bit of her energy. (2x post for spell, cannot cast this spell for an hour after use, similar rules for advanced spells apply).
Dark Magic (Apprentice) - What Jane knows of dark magic is minimal, but she was taught and practiced a little with the coven in Quebec before they attempted to kill her in a sacrifice. Her knowledge is very limited but she tends to know enough to identify dark spells, she knows the basics of how they work, and has recently looked into the usage of Dark magic against other dark casters (fight fire with fire!). The downside is that Jane is almost phobic of dark magic and witches, and may suffer from nervous breakdowns and severe anxiety attacks if she must research or practice what she knows (see flaws, not sure if this counts as a power xD).
Weaknesses:
Severely Damaged Vocal Chords & Throat: Jane can barely speak. It takes immense effort and is often painful for her to form words, due to the damage caused by the dark coven in Quebec. This means that Jane can't scream for help (she simply wouldn't be loud enough), and additionally she can run into issues when it comes to breathing due to wind pipe damage as well. Because the athame used to slit her throat was enchanted, this lingering damage /cannot/ be healed by magical or mundane means.
Slow to Heal: Also thought to be a side-effect (or side-curse) of the ritual where a coven attempted to sacrifice Jane, she is an extremely slow healer. If Jane becomes sick or injured, it can take up to triple the amount of energy for her to heal herself, and a considerable amount of work from another healer.
Fear of the dark: Despite some of the darker company she now keeps, Jane has a fear of the dark arts and witches that practice them. She fears dark magic and other witches even more than hunters in some cases, and is known to avoid them at all costs. She can be exceptionally paranoid, and has been known to blame just about any problem on dark magic and other witches. If any situation forces her to practice a dark magic spell, she’s probably going to have a nervous breakdown after it.
Nightmares: Jane suffers from nightmares, and naturally they disable her sleeping abilities. Sometimes she will be up for days, fatigued both mentally and physically whilst busying herself with any little task to avoid the possibility of sleep. As anyone can imagine, this takes a toll on her energy when it comes to casting and can be a cause of her concentration waning considerably.
No Poker Face: Maybe it was all that dance and artistic expression, but Jane doesn't really have the ability to hide what she's thinking or feeling at all. If she did the thing, all you have to do is look her way and she'll probably be flinching, laughing, or trying to run for a head start. Sometimes she even looks nervous when she hasn’t done anything wrong.
"I can do it!": It’s almost impossible to offer someone help when they don’t think they need it. More often than not? Jane never thinks she needs help with anything. This staggering combination of overconfidence, iron will, and flat out stubborness in the past has lead to a vast number of injuries and and damn near death for Jane in numerous occasions. Often times in order to help her she needs to be physically overpowered or chemically dosed before she will ‘accept’.
Farsighted/Hyperopia: Jane must squint to see nearby objects. Reading, writing, computer work, or drawing for long periods of time may cause eye strain and headache.

Addict: Jane is known to abuse alcohol and drugs frequently when she can get her hands on such things, well beyond what is considered to be a health hazard. This flaw is part of what started her trouble in the city after she left home.
